As one of the leading causes of serious health problems and death in this country, it is urgent that we begin to examine the factors that contribute to the development of this disease and ways to control it. Managing diabetes through diet and nutrition has proven to be very effective for most diabetics and prediabetics, and this is encouraging, considering the high price of health care for this growing sector of the population. As with anything, prevention is the best strategy, but if you or a loved one has already been diagnosed with diabetes, taking charge of your health is a must. The following sites will supply you with lots of great recipes and exercise plans that will fit into just about any lifestyle, as well as articles dealing with issues pertinent to the diabetic population.

[Click through for a collection of sites with helpful information]Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2219951083932607598.post-42617521074962077522011-12-12T21:03:00.000-08:002011-12-12T21:06:22.644-08:00Chef Meg's Slow Cooker Vegetable Curry
I will be trying this in the very near future. But their focus is not on whole, organic fruits and vegetables, or grass-pastured meats, dairy and eggs. Senomyx develops patented flavor enhancers by using "proprietary taste receptor-based assay systems."
That's a testing system that provides scientists with biochemical responses and electronic readouts when a flavor ingredient interacts with their patented receptor, letting researchers know whether or not their flavor enhancer is effective. The receptors are made from HEK293 -- HEK stands for Human Embryonic Kidney cells, with 293 denoting that the HEK was from the 293rd experiment. HEK293 originally came from a healthy, electively aborted baby whose cells were then harvested and cloned.

According to the Weston A. Price Foundation:

"Senomyx's salt taste, savory flavor, and sweet flavors -- as well as all their other flavor enhancers -- are purposefully developed so that they stimulate your taste buds without them actually tasting anything ... Much like MSG, these flavor enhancers operate on the neurological level to produce these reactions ...

Since they are not actually ingredients but rather 'enhancers' they are not required to be listed in a package's ingredients except as 'artificial flavors' ... [And] because very small amounts of the additives are used ... Senomyx's chemicals have not undergone the FDA's usual safety approval process for food additives."

Admit it! You have never even thought of doing that!! I hadn't either!

Apparently it is as easy as hard boiling the egg as usual, pealing it while it is still hot (ouch, be careful, that sounds like a job for my Ove Glove's), putting it into a mold and refrigerating it for a while.

I think I just have to try that! When I do, the end result, will of course, be posted at Meal Ideas.

Every time I changed one little thing the entire template broke. I couldn't take it. So I bought my very own domain name and launched my new Meal Ideas website, I have already posted some new original recipes over there and there's more coming this week!

In other awesome news, Sita who some of you know from her SU page or her tumblr will be collaborating with me over on Meal Ideas which means you will get 2 great cooks for the price of one! Since the price is free, you really can't beat that, can you!

I plan to use this blogger to bookmark recipes I intend to use at a later date from now on, rather than posting my original stuff here BUT hey, you may still find it worth following and you can always head over to Meal Ideas and see what I actually end up doing with the random recipes I find on the internet.
This just made me giggle. Creating a tasty meal sometimes requires a bit of inspiration. Laughter is my muse, what's yours?
I laughed until my throat hurt. This is the kind of "trust your gut" cooking I encourage people to do but hopefully with considerably more skill.

I know this video is a joke (boy do I, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time) but what Henry should have done in all reality is make the whole batch and THEN split it 7 ways and freeze it separately. I am the queen of making more than we can eat around here, my freezer is my friend.

I made this is less than 15min including all the dicing. You can pretty much just add things to taste, go light on the yogurt though unless you want a sloppy panini.

Ingredients:
Grated Italian Cheese
Greek Yogurt
Naan Bread

Diced:
Red Onion
Red & Green Bell Pepper
Grilled Chicken

You can butter the outside of the naan or you can just spray it with Pam or you can do nothing at all, it's a George Forman, it's not like it's going to stick! It's is just a matter of flavor preference. It ready when you think it is brown enough and the filling is cooked to your liking, 5-10min.
